Joel Sauer joined the Lantern team in 2022 as a Client Services Specialist. He assists the advisors to help their clients understand pensions and benefits and how these elements figure into overall financial planning and goal setting. For 34 years, Joel worked for Fortune 500 Company Eli Lilly in Indianapolis. Most recently, he served as Associate Consultant in the Lilly Global Benefits Department helping employees navigate the complexities of benefits and pension consulting.
Joel graduated from Bradley University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and a minor in mathematics. He also holds many professional certifications, including Professional Engineer, Six Sigma Black Belt Certification and Certified Race Director. Joel founded the Indianapolis Marathon and Half Marathon at Fort Ben in 1996 and continues as Race Director of the event today.
Joel and his wife, Kathy, have five grown children. Joel is very active and enjoys endurance bike racing, backpacking, swimming and running as well as spending time with family. He is also active in his church, where he volunteers his time on the Leadership and Finance Teams.
